Vitra at W. Atelier Singapore — Swiss design furniture since 1950.

Design as a way of living.

From the Swiss family company that gave the world the Panton Chair and produces the Eames collection for Europe — to today's work with the Bouroullec brothers, Jasper Morrison and Konstantin Grcic. Vitra pairs a living catalogue of icons with a genuine culture of design, presented in Singapore by W. Atelier.

The Home CollectionIcons of Modern Design

A Swiss family company that made modern design a way of living.

Vitra began in 1950, when Willi and Erika Fehlbaum started a shop-fitting business in Weil am Rhein, on the German bank of the Rhine near Basel. The turning point came in 1953, when Willi spotted a group of Charles and Ray Eames chairs in a New York department store. He was captivated — and by 1957 Vitra had become the licensed producer of Eames and George Nelson designs for Europe, beginning a relationship with great design that would define the company. Its first independently produced piece, Verner Panton's cantilevered Panton Chair, arrived in the 1960s as the first chair moulded from a single piece of plastic.

Today Vitra is still family-owned, its headquarters in Birsfelden, Switzerland and its remarkable campus in Weil am Rhein — a landscape of buildings by Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid, Tadao Ando, SANAA and Herzog & de Meuron, home to the Vitra Design Museum and the VitraHaus. The catalogue pairs 20th-century icons — the Eames Lounge Chair, the Panton Chair, Noguchi's Table — with contemporary work by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Jasper Morrison, Konstantin Grcic and Hella Jongerius. As an authorised Vitra partner in Singapore, W. Atelier brings the Vitra Home Collection to our Henderson Road showroom.

Four pillars of Vitra.

i.

Swiss Since 1950

A family-owned company for three generations, headquartered in Switzerland with production in Weil am Rhein — pairing industrial precision with a genuine, enduring culture of design.

ii.

Custodian of the Icons

Vitra produces the Eames and George Nelson designs for Europe and manufactures the Panton Chair and Noguchi Table — each an authentic, licensed original made to the designer's specification.

iii.

A Living Design Culture

Beyond furniture: the Vitra Design Museum, the architectural campus, and ongoing collaborations with the Bouroullecs, Jasper Morrison, Konstantin Grcic and Hella Jongerius keep the catalogue alive.

iv.

Presented by W. Atelier

As an authorised Vitra partner in Singapore, W. Atelier carries the Vitra Home Collection with the design expertise to plan it into your home — from first consultation to installation.

From the Eameses to the Bouroullecs — the authors of modern design.

Vitra's catalogue is a living history of modern design — mid-century masters produced under licence alongside today's most influential studios.

The pieces that define Vitra.

Icons of the 20th century, still in production today.

Vitra Eames Lounge Chair — By Charles & Ray Eames

Eames Lounge Chair

By Charles & Ray Eames

Perhaps the most recognisable lounge chair of the 20th century — moulded plywood shells, plush leather cushions and a warm, welcoming recline. Conceived by Charles and Ray Eames as a modern take on the English club chair, produced by Vitra for Europe and still made to the original specification, in a range of veneers and leathers.

Panton Chair

By Verner Panton

A single sweeping line of moulded plastic — the first chair ever made from one piece, and a manifesto for the future when it launched. Verner Panton's cantilevered form is sculptural, stackable and unmistakable, an icon of Pop-era design that Vitra continues to produce in a spectrum of colours.

Noguchi Table

By Isamu Noguchi

Isamu Noguchi called it his best-known furniture design — two interlocking curved wooden legs supporting a freeform glass top, a piece of functional sculpture that has never left production. A study in balance and organic form, as much artwork as coffee table.

Common questions.

Where is Vitra furniture made?

Is W. Atelier an authorised Vitra dealer in Singapore?
Yes. W. Atelier is an authorised Vitra partner in Singapore, carrying the Vitra Home Collection at the Henderson Road showroom. Every piece is a Vitra original, produced under licence and authenticated. Given how widely Vitra icons are imitated, buying through an authorised partner is the reliable way to be sure a piece is genuine.
Which Vitra icons are available at W. Atelier?
W. Atelier carries Vitra icons including the Eames Lounge Chair, the Eames Plastic Chairs, the Panton Chair by Verner Panton, and the Noguchi Table by Isamu Noguchi, alongside contemporary designs by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Jasper Morrison and Konstantin Grcic. Does Vitra hold the rights to the Eames designs?
Vitra holds the rights to produce the furniture designs of Charles and Ray Eames and George Nelson for Europe and the Middle East. In the United States, these designs are produced by Herman Miller. A Vitra Eames piece is an authentic, licensed original made to the designers' specifications — not a reproduction.
How do I know a Vitra piece is authentic?
Authentic Vitra pieces are licensed originals produced to the designer's specification and carry Vitra's identification mark. Purchasing through an authorised partner such as W. Atelier guarantees the piece is a genuine Vitra original rather than a replica — an important safeguard given how widely Vitra icons like the Panton and Eames chairs are imitated.
