The family that made Italian furniture made-to-measure.
Lema's story begins in 1930s Brianza, where Angelo Meroni opened a traditional furniture workshop and later a celebrated Milan shop, La Sorgente del Mobile. The turning point came in 1970, when his sons Luigi and Enrico Meroni scaled that craft heritage to an industrial level and founded Lema — the name drawn from their own: Luigi Enrico Meroni Arredamenti. They entrusted the master architect Angelo Mangiarotti with the design of a cutting-edge headquarters in Alzate Brianza, and set out to become the first Italian company to design and produce fully integrated furniture systems, controlling the entire cycle from raw material to finished piece.
That made-to-measure philosophy still defines Lema. Early modular programmes like Tito Agnoli's Lo Scaffale and the Armadio al Centimetro wardrobe established a genuinely custom-made spirit that lives on in today's Selecta shelving and Lissoni's modular systems. Around this core, Lema has built a complete home collection — sofas, tables, beds, seating and accessories — developed with Piero Lissoni, David Lopez Quincoces, Christophe Pillet, Roberto Lazzeroni and others, and still made across two Mangiarotti-designed sites in Brianza. As Lema's Singapore partner, W. Atelier presents this full vision — Feel at Home — at our Henderson Road showroom.
