The company that industrialised Italian design.
Founded in 1927 in Meda, in the furniture-making heartland of Lombardy, Cassina began as a family workshop and became the company that brought industrial method to Italian furniture. In the 1950s it pioneered mass production of high design, working with Gio Ponti on pieces like the Superleggera chair — proof that a chair could be both industrially made and quietly perfect. It was the beginning of a philosophy that still defines the house: technology in the service of craft, never the other way around.
In 1965 Cassina made a decisive move, acquiring the exclusive worldwide rights to re-edit the works of Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand — founding the iMaestri collection that now includes Gio Ponti, Gerrit Rietveld, Franco Albini and Charlotte Perriand. Alongside these re-editions runs a living catalogue of contemporary icons — Vico Magistretti's Maralunga, Mario Bellini's CAB, and new work by Patricia Urquiola, Philippe Starck and Rodolfo Dordoni. As Cassina's exclusive Singapore partner, W. Atelier presents this full perspective at The Cassina Perspective, its Henderson Road showroom.

Maralunga
One of the most recognisable sofas of the 20th century, and Cassina's best-loved icon. Magistretti's stroke of genius was a hinged headrest that folds up for support or down for a clean line — comfort engineered into a silhouette. Now re-issued as Maralunga 40 maxi, in a vast range of fabrics and leathers.

CAB
A steel skeleton wrapped entirely in saddle-stitched leather that zips over the frame like a second skin — a radical idea in 1977, a design classic ever since. The CAB chair and armchair remain among the purest expressions of Cassina's belief that engineering and craft belong to the same gesture.
